OVERTOUN
Metal band formed by Yoav Ruiz-Feingold, Matias Bahamondes , Agustin Lobo and Guillermo Rocha. Their own compositions preserve the style and talent of the classic Metal bands, creating a new form of music influenced by Thrash, Death and Groove Metal, also with some aspects of Latin music. They are looking forward to build a new metal scene full of youth, passion and energy.
It was formed in 2013, when guitarist Matias Bahamondes met drummer Agustin Lobo with the idea of playing covers of their favorite bands. After that, bassist Gonzalo Viveros joined them. In that moment, the group was baptized as Overtoun, developing styles like Thrash and Heavy Metal. In early 2014, they didn’t have a full time singer, so Juan de Dios Schoennenbeck helped with those duties in some shows. Also vocalist Diego Pérez Espech joined the band for some school competitions.
In 2015, Viveros was replaced for Cristóbal Gómez. From then, they continued to perform in the local school band scene. A memorable show was the XXXIX Alcántara Festival, sharing stage with national-known bands.
During 2016, the digital demo “Eyes Wide Open,” was released, with five compositions that were included in the band's first album. In that recording, the band worked in the style of Thrash and Groove Metal.
In the beginnings of 2017, Bahamondes met bassist/vocalist Yoav Ruiz – Feingold in Berklee College of Music, event that started the recordings of their first album.
In 2018, the band finished the production of their first LP “Centuries of Lies,” in which they included the genres of Death Metal and Latin Music. This album has been streamed in national and international radios, such as Radio Futuro (CL), Metal-O-Mania (US), Radio Rockefort (ES), Radio Universidad de Chile (CL), Radio Ritoque (CL), Twisted Sin Metal Show (US), Metal Public Radio (US) and so on.
Lastly, in 2019, Gómez was replaced by bassist Guillermo Rocha. They did a promotional mini-tour for the album across Chile, and in August they will hit the studio again to record their second release.
Production Notes
‘Centuries of Lies’ was produced by Overtoun, mostly engineered by Matias Bahamondes, with special assistance of Chilean Pulsar-awarded producer Francisco Arenas (Recrucide, Audiopsicotica, Exxocet, Austral, GEN), who also did the complete mastering of the album.
The drums were engineered by also Pulsar-awarded Chilean drummer Felipe Cortés (Organized Chaos, Crisálida, Claudio Cordero, Lechuga), and the vocals were engineered by Anthony Medaglia (Graviton, Aversed, Epicenter) at Sonic Titan Studios in Boston.
The band did a promotional mini tour for this album across Chile, in cities like Concepción, Talcahuano, Curanilahue and Santiago, also offering workshops for High and Middle school students from different states and provinces.
